Information : Storage sustainability efforts underway

Issue began on 2024-04-23 10:53:31 with Google Apps (TAMU)

This message is being distributed to Texas A&M University employees, current and former students with a 25 GB Google storage quota. Changes to Your Texas A&M Google Storage: Google recently changed how data storage is handled for higher education institutions and moved away from free, unlimited storage. Global changes by Google required a strategic review and plan for ongoing management of Texas A&M University's Google storage options. Microsoft will also begin charging for storage this year, and a similar strategy will be implemented to manage storage on that platform. Changes to Texas A&M Google Storage Include: * Current account holders will be given a My Drive quota based on existing usage plus a significant buffer for growth. There is a minimum quota of 25 GB for undergraduate students and staff and a minimum quota of 100 GB for graduate students and faculty. * New Shared Drives will be given a 25 GB quota. Existing Shared Drives will be given a quota based on their current size with a significant buffer to accommodate additional growth. Texas A&M Google storage quotas will be implemented for students and employees beginning May 18. All account holders will have ample data storage available and will not see any interruption in day-to-day activities with My Drive or Shared Drives.
